A former minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has hinted that the only way Nigerians can restore Nigeria’s democracy is by disrupting the leadership recruitment process whereby there is a belief that apart from the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) and main opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), no other political party can obtain power amid over 66 registered alternative political parties.
Ezekwesili stated this yesterday while briefing journalists on the activities earmarked for the upcoming national Summit of The Alternatives (SOTA), organised by a non-profit organisation, Red Card Movement and other civil society organisations as a move to fix the leadership crisis in Nigeria’s political space.
The former minister who condemned the recruitment process of leadership in the country said that Nigeria’s political system and her leadership have not delivered optimal service for the people despite the large scale monetary, natural and human resources abundant within.
Speaking further on the activities for the event, the Director General of First Project, Nya-etolk Ezekiel said the event is scheduled to take place at Yar Adua Center from 15-16th August, 2018.
According to him, there will be a presidential parley, which will consist of aspirants who have made public their intention to run for the office of the president among others.
