The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state, has caught a big fish following the defection of the minority leader of the state Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Usman Haruna, member representing Gombe north from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the PDP.
Hon. Ahmed while announcing his defection at the floor of the house on Thursday during plenary, said he left the APC as a result of injustice, arbitrariness and unconstitutionality that characterised the party.
Defending his reasons for quitting the APC, Ahmed said it was due to the injustice meted on his personality and the refusal of the party at all levels to abide by its own constitution.
“An unconstitutional decision was taking against my personality by the state leadership of the party, which I wrote to the zonal and national headquarters of the party but no action was taking, any political party that is not sensitive and willing to consider the plight of its member and take decision then that party is doom.” He said.
The former minority leader said he took the decision in consultation with political associates, stakeholders and members of his constituency.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the Assembly member decision to join PDP caused wild celebration in the party as they see him as a strong force in Gombe politics.
