Govs Meet On New Minimum Wage

Governors under the auspices of the Nigerian Governors Forum met yesterday night to take a stand on the new minimum wage. Recall that the Nigerian Labour Congress has proposed N66,500 minimum wage for all workers in the country.  The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, had said that the new minimum wage may not materialise in September which was the deadline set for the implementation .

However governors yesterday met to make their position known on the new minimum wage with the September deadline just two weeks away. The governors also met to discuss the freezing of Benue and Akwa Ibom States by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The recent invasion of the National Assembly by the Department of State Services( DSS) was also on the agenda of the meeting.
