NASS Invasion: Group Calls For Investigation

Leadership Nigeria News Today

The Nigerian Youth Parliament has called for urgent investigation into the National Assembly invasion by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), recently.
Recall that the officials of the DSS on August 7 laid siege on NASS complex preventing Lawmakers, Journalists and other staff from gaining entrance.
The speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Ayodele John Obe who made the call in a press statement issued to Journalists recently in Abuja, praised the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo for his swift response in arresting and terminating the appointment of the DG, SSS, Mr Lawal Daura.
Ayodele noted that the unfortunate incident did not only call for sober reflection but vigilance as well as the interrogation of the fundamentals of what led to the national embarrassment and desecration of the symbol of Nigeria’s democracy.
“The issue cannot be treated with kid gloves, high treason was committed, and the matter should not end with merely firing a public official, public enquiry should be set up to get to the infamy,” he said.
