Nigerians Urged To Support Govt In Fighting Poverty, Crime

Published

on

Wife of the immediate past FCT minister, Hajiya (Dr) Aisha Bala Mohammed has called on well-meaning Nigerians to support government in assisting the less privileged, especially orphans, and fighting poverty and crime. While making this plea during the annual funfair organised by Al Muhibbah Foundation to raise funds for different orphanages around the FCT, she said orphans need the support of generous Nigerians to be able to live qualitative lives, become useful to society through education and not be tempted to turn to crime. “Every year, we raise money for school fees for the orphans because they need to be educated so that they feel loved and not abandoned, and to reduce crime rate in the country. This is why, every August, Al Muhibbah Foundation organises this funfair for entrepreneurs to raise funds for orphans for them to go to school and have adequate education as well as healthcare. They need our love, care and support to be able to live a useful life for themselves
and the society as a whole; I am pleading with Nigerians, both young and old, men and women, to learn how to give. I am very worried because I am a mother and grandmother and I noticed that every vacation, youths are idle and that is why I decided that instead of them spending money on movies and other outings, they could spend some of their pocket money on orphans who don’t need much to take care of their basic needs. So parents, especially, have a duty to teach their children to live responsibly, give out to charity and be humble,’’ Mohammed stated.
