The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Imohimi Edgal, has directed the deployment of additional 1000 policemen to boost security in the Lagos metropolis for the forthcoming Eid El Kabir celebration.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Chike Oti, in a statement made available to journalist said the deployment was meant to boost the number of security officers designated to ensure a hitch free Sallah celebration .
He said the officers will ensure effective coverage of the prayer grounds, holiday spots and the neighbourhoods.
He added that, specialised units like the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), the Canine section (Police dogs), the Air support unit, Marine police and the Mounted troops (Horsemen ), have been activated and sufficiently mobilised to guarantee security during the holidays.
Edgal, however assured Lagosians that the Command is committed to their security before, during and after the holiday.
While wishing Muslim faithful happy Eid El Kabir celebration, he admonished the city dwellers to be security conscious and enjoy moderately during the holiday.
