HoS Approves Development Of Civil Service Welfare Policy

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, has approved the development of a Federal Civil Service Welfare Policy as a major initiative to address the challenge of uncoordinated approach to management of welfare of employees across the service.

Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office (SWO), Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack made this known, in her address, at the Interactive Session with Participants of Batches 2-7 of the Pilot Phase of the Pre-retirement Programme, held at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Abuja.

The permanent secretary who stated that the system is expected to guarantee the welfare of employee at every stage in their career, also revealed that the drive will create a holistic development of the Federal Civil Service workforce.

“As part of efforts at improving the welfare of Government Employees, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is developing a system that takes care of well-being of employees beginning from entry into the service, to exit and beyond in order to attract the brightest and the best and motivated employees to contribute fully towards achieving the overall vision of the government”.

“This system is expected to guarantee the welfare of employees at every stage in their career. It will result in improved health of employees, create job satisfaction to them as well as workers personal safety, improved industrial relations, increase in general efficiency of the workforce and ultimately, national economic development”, she said.
