The Kogi State government has commenced the payment of salaries to civil servants in the state ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. This was announced on the Twitter handle of the Director General of Media and Publicity to the state governor, Kingsley Fanwo. Fanwo said the payment was sequel to the directive issued by the state commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Idris Asiru and the Accountant General of the state, Alhaji Jibril Momoh, for the commencement of salary payment in 24 hours during the weekly State Executive Council Meeting. According to the DG, the state governor said the fact that the state has not received its allocation for the month should never be an excuse not to pay salaries to civil servants, assuring all civil servants of his administration’s commitment to ensuring workers’ welfare. Fanwo state: “He (Governor Bello) urged the people of the state to continue to support government in order for him to deliver on his promises to the people of the state. “Governor Bello said his administration is working hard to ensure salaries are paid regularly, irrespective of allocation from the federal government.”
