Sallah: FRSC Deploys 4,000 Personnel To Curb Accidents

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it has deployed 4,000 personnel to critical corridors to curb excesses of drivers and accidents on the highways during the Eid-el-Kabir.

The assistant corps marshal and zonal commanding officer in charge of Ogun and Lagos, John Meheux, made the disclosure in an interview with LEADERSHIP Weekend, yesterday.

Meheux said that the personnel, which include both regular and special marshals, were mobilised and deployed to all critical corridors in both states for effective mobile and foot team patrol between Aug 17 and Aug 26.

‘’We have deployed a total of 4,000 personnel to critical corridors in both Ogun and Lagos States’ Highways.

“This is to curtail road crashes and check the excesses of drivers travelling during the Eid-el-Kabir holiday.

“Rescue services will be available at strategic locations like Ojota-Mowe-Shagamu on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“Also, 80 patrol vans with eight motorbikes, six ambulances and two heavy duty tow trucks will also be deployed to various highways and critical corridors.

“This is to ensure prompt rescue services across the corridors and prompt removal of obstructions,’’ the FRSC zonal commander said.

Meheux said that the officials would enforce the use of speed limit devices and also provide traffic assistance to the pedestrians attempting to cross the roads at designated crossing points.

The FRSC boss also advised the motoring public to drive safely and shun route violation and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol during the celebrations.

He appealed to the commuters to board their vehicles at the designated motor parks and ensure they fill the passengers’ manifest.

LEADERSHIP Weekend reports that the Federal Government had declared Aug 21 and Aug 22 as public holidays for the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
