All Set For 13th ABU Alumni General Assembly

All is now set for the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association 13th Annual General Assembly (AGA) slated for September 15, 2018.
A statement signed by its national public relations officer, ABU Alumni Association, Mal Mahmud Danjuma, and made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend, said general assembly is scheduled to hold at the senate chamber at the senate building in the main campus, Samaru, Zaria.
The statement said the national president of the ABU Alumni Association, Prof Ahmed Tijjani Mora, will preside over the assembly meeting which is to be attended by 10 delegates from each of the 36 state branches of the association including Abuja and Zaria branches.
It said the sixteen faculties within the university would be represented by two delegates each from the faculty-based chapters of the association.
‘‘International branches would be represented by a delegate each from every country with an active and recognised ABU alumni association. The vice-chancellor of ABU, Zaria, Prof Ibrahim Garba will declare the 13th AGA open, which will commence at 12:00 noon.
‘‘A day before the AGA, on September 14, 2018,the AGA lecture would be delivered by Hadiza Bala Usman, the managing director and chief executive officer at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Lagos, who’s also a distinguished alumnus of the university.
The chairman of the lecture event is Mallam Adamu Fika (Wazirin Fika) the pro-chancellor and chairman of the ABU governing council. While the special guest of honour at the lecture event is the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, himself a distinguished alumnus of ABU too.
‘‘The three day event will witness visits to some faculties within the universities, visits to projects sites within the university, including the building of the overhead pedestrian bridge at Northgate, the 50 units flats for postgraduate students hostel in phase 11 site, all within the main campus, Samaru.
‘‘There is also the water reticulation work in Kongo Campus which would restore pipe water supply to about 450 staff quarters on the campus.
‘‘During the lecture, a book, ‘The Best and Brightests Graduates of ABU, Zaria: A Compendium of the ABU Alumni Association,’ which is a publication of the alumni association would be presented to the public and launched.
