The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Professor (Amb) Apostle Ejiofor Chinedum Emmanuel, Gesi Asamaowei, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Mr. Emma Akpakwu, Mr Haruna Waziri, Faze and others have been revealed to be part of this year’s honorees leading other personalities and celebrities for the 2018 edition of the ‘Peace Achievers Awards’ slated for Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
According to Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, Project Director of Peace Ambassador Agency, organisers of the annual awards, said the these people are among those who have contributed to the security of the nation adding that the achievements of Governor Aminu Bello Masari in the area of security is no doubt worthy of celebration.
Mr Kingsley revealed that between 2013-2014, the security situation in Katsina state was precarious, especially during the visit of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan where armed bandits capitalised on it and invaded Kurar Mota, Marabar Maigora, Sabon Layin Galadima, Unguwar Doka and Maigora, all in Faskari Local Government Area and massacred over 100 innocent citizens, destroying several houses and properties worth millions of naira.
He stressed that the security situation was so poor in the state to the extent that running a normal life became frightening and uncertain owning to the dangerous trend of cattle rustling, armed banditry, robbery and other related crimes that rendered the social milieu ineffective/impossible, dormant and docile as a result of fear and trauma which the entire state found itself.
“The Executive Governor of Katsina State, a very simple, amiable, and gentleman, recognising the importance of security, collaborated with security agencies, and also between Katsina State Government and neighbouring states that were equally immersed in in the menace, organised and funded various security operatives, including joint security named the “Sharan Daji”, Operation spear headed by 1 Division, Nigerian Army Kaduna and MESA Operation by 35 Battalion, Katsina, ” he said.
Kingsley added that “The operations include killing of criminals and dislodging them from their hideouts, destroying their camps, recovery of 30,000 rustled Animals out of which more than 95 per cent were handed over to the identified rightful owners through the state standing committee between farmers and herdsmen. This is the reason why we are presenting him with this prestigious honour and recognition, ” he explained.
