The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured all passengers making use of airports across the country of seamless travel during and after the Sallah celebrations as security measures have been put in place.
The general manager, public affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu disclosed this in an interview with LEADERSHIP in her office on the preparation for the Sallah celebrations.
According to Yakubu, the VIP lounges have been given a face lift with improvement on the ambience while the cooling systems have also been improved upon. Yakubu said “We have also improved on the lighting systems as most of the lights have been replaced with LED lightings, the cooling system has also been upgraded.”
She equally disclosed that new security measures have been adopted to ensure that there was no breach of security during and after the celebrations. She warned people without business at the airport to steer clear as anybody caught will be treated like tout adding, that only workers, passengers and those with business will be allowed into the airport.
She said all aviation security (AVSEC) personnel have been briefed on the new security measures while broken down screening machine has been repaired and put into use maintaining that their backups have also been provided.
She further explained that a joint military taskforce was working round the clock to provide security at the airport stressing that FAAN has tried its possible best to raid the airport of touts saying that touts were no longer in the terminal
She advised travelers to leave home on time as a result of the on-going work along the airport road by the Lagos state government in order to conclude boarding formalities before their flights.
Yakubu urged passengers to contact airline booking counters at the airports to make their ticket purchase in order to avoid being swindled by touts.
