The number of deaths from the last Friday’s building collapse in Jabi district of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has increased to three, following the resumed rescue operations by the rescue team.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, yesterday directed the rescue team back to site, as a result of strong concerns that there could still be people under the rubbles.
However, the body of Sadiq Aliu, was discovered, at the resumption of rescue operations and his relatives preferred that he be buried immediately in a cemetery, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Other two fatalities were, the site foreman, Bashiru Mohammed and another young man who is yet to be identified, who were also buried last Friday, after they had been confirmed dead.
The other four persons were reported to have sustained minor injuries and had left Gwarimpa Hospital where they were taken to by relatives and friends after initial treatment.
Acting deputy director and head, forecasting, response and mitigation of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Mrs. Florence Wenegieme said that the agency has three general hospitals, Wuse, Asokoro and Maitama, set aside for emergency treatments.
