The National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD), Princess Gloria Akobundu has felicitated with the Muslim in the country on their celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

Akobundu recalled that Eid-el-Kabir is a period of “self-sober reflection on our attitudes to humanity and faith in ALLAH as well as deserved sacrifice to God for His steadfast love to mankind.”

The NEPAD CEO enjoined Nigerians to be grateful to God for keeping them alive to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir as well as to use the occasion to pray for deliverance from “the vices presently hindering the desired peace, development and growth of our nation.” She appealed to Nigerians to remember the less privileged in the society during this Sallah.

“As the bye-elections and 2019 general elections are approaching, we should avoid unruly attitudes that are capable of undermining the quest for violence-free election which is panacea for democratic advancement of Nigeria,” Akobundu added according to a statement that was issued by NEPAD’s assistant Director (Media), Atuora Obed.

In this same vein, the NEPAD boss reiterated that good governance and violence-free election are the needed solutions for the emancipation of our present socio-economic and political challenges adding that we should collectively pursue a common goal of a sustainable violence-free election and peace in the country.

Akobundu commended the staff of NEPAD Nigeria and the entire workers of the nation for their dedication and commitment to their duties and prayed God to continue to protect, guide and provide a sustainable good governance, violence-free elections and peace in Nigerian.
