Eid-el-Kabir: Sultan Harps On Peace, Unity

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III yesterday, admonished Nigerians not to play any role that negates the unity of the country.
Sultan, who insisted that politicians should strive towards promoting peaceful coexistence, added that, peace and unity of Nigeria must not be jeopardized. He spoke while delivering Eid-el-Kabir message.
“Peace and unity of the country should always remain our priority, all our political parties should always consider Nigeria first,’’ he added.
While stressing that politicians must allow peace to reign as 2019 general elections approaches, Sultan cautioned youths against allowing themselves to be used by politicians for their selfish interest.
The traditional cum religious leader further advised all eligible Nigerians to ensure that they get their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) which will enable them vote for candidates of their choice come 2019.
Lamenting over the spate of insecurity in Nigeria, Sultan appealed to all and sundry to complement the efforts of the security agencies by giving them useful information, as according to him, security must be seen as a collective responsibility of every Nigerian.
Sultan further admonished Muslim Ummah to pray for the leaders at all levels. “Nigerians should endeavour to sustain their prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari, all our governors and all other leaders including religious and traditional in this country”.
The state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on his part, admonished Nigerian youths never to allow politicians use them for selfish interest as 2019 general elections is around the corner.
Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, the governor advised the youths to shun any form of violence.
