Millions of Muslim faithful led by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, yesterday observed the Eid-el-Kabir prayer session at the Kofar Mata Eid Ground under tight security.
The faithful were led in the prayer session by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who recited verses from the Holy Quran in Arabic Language and proceed to interpret the messages from the Holy Quran in Hausa Language.
Millions of Muslim adherents arrived the traditional Eid Ground in the early hours of Tuesday under the watchful eyes of security operatives, who 24 hours to Sallah day had already cordoned off the spiritual ground and environs.
Security operatives stopped motorists from parking their vehicles close to the Eid Ground, while pedestrians in possession of sealed or suspected item were scrutinized before entering the Eid premises.
Security operatives were positioned at strategic locations around the Kofar Mata Eid Ground, while officers and men of the Nigeria Police drawn from the Mounting Troop section, mounted on their horses to keep vigil at strategic locations.
Police dogs of various breeds also accompanied the operatives.
Thousands of operatives were mobilised from the Department of Security Services (DSS), FRSC, NSCDC, KAROTA, HISBAH, Vigilante groups, Man ‘O’ War, and Boys Scouts.
Likewise, volunteers that were armed with dame guns, bows and arrows complimented the Nigeria police in rendering security services, including crowd control.

The spokesman, Kano State Police Command, SP Magaji Musa Majia disclosed that security operatives are on alert to ensure smooth celebration, and appealed to residents to be conscious of happenings around their environments prior, during and after the Sallah celebrations.
Majia appealed to the public to report suspected person or activities to security operatives, while urging parents to keep vigil over their wards. Majia appeal to motorist to comply with driving rules while plying the roads, during the celebration.
The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II who conducted the Eid Kabir preaching session in Kano, called on Muslims to imbibe the fear of Allah.
The Kano monarch told politicians that their political interest is not worth the blood of anyone.
The chief Imam of Kano State, Professor Mohammed Sani Zahradeen appealed to Muslims to continue to pursue the path of peace, while also urging Muslims to continue to uphold the tenets of Islam. He further appealed to all Muslims to pray for peace to reign supreme in Nigeria.
