The Kuje area council has urged staff of the council to be more proactive in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.

Speaking at a routine in-house training for staff of health and environmental department, the head of personnel department, Alkali Muhammad, urged them to see the training as part of the capacity building for a more efficient and effective workforce.

In his paper titled, ‘Residential Premises Inspection’, Sanitarian Nakoto Dami, expressed the need for professionals to be abreast with mandates, on what to look out for during house-to-house inspections.

Dami urged participants to serve abatement notices to houses littered with wastes and other nuisances, during their routine house inspections exercises.

In another paper titled ‘Home Visit and Contact Tracing Health Care’, Mohammed Gimba Ebbo, noted that there are four major types of home visits, adding that home assessment visits and follow up visits are usually  based on the prevalent chronic health illness that may occur.

Ebbo maintained that home visitation programmes can be an effective early-intervention strategy to improve well-being of individuals, family and the community.

Also speaking, the divisional head (training), Hajiya Habiba revealed that the training, titled, ‘Residential Premises, House-to-house Inspection and Hospital Waste’, would be a continuous one as other department will also benefit from it.
