As the 2019 general elections beckons, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has warned personnel of the Nigerian Airforce not to get involved in partisan politics, urging personnel who want to join politics to drop their uniforms. The Air Chief equally appreciated the efforts of the Nigerian Airforce in the counter Insurgency operations in the northeast, as well as curtailing killings in other parts of the country such as in Zamfara, Benue ,Taraba among others, where activities of armed herdsmen and bandits have been brought under control. Air Marshal Abubakar stated this yesterday in Maiduguri while addressing officers and men of the Nigerian Airforce on special operation at headquarters, Air Taskforce Division, Maiduguri, in Borno State, ahead of Sallah lunch with them. He urged the personnel to work harder to ensure that within the shortest possible time, the fight against insurgency and other security challenges facing the nation is brought to an end. He said that the efforts of the personnel with the available eight aircraft against the terrorists and bandits are commendable. Abubakar said with the 40,000 litres of fuel provided for the special operations by the Nigerian Airforce, the airmen in collaboration with the land forces were able to fly the aircrafts and bombarded terrorists locations in the northeast ,in addition to bandits’ base in Zamfara, Benue and other areas facing similar challenges. He assured the men of prompt intervention to their wellbeing and welfare , saying that he will be visiting them regularly to address any issue affecting their operations. “ I want to first and foremost appreciate the efforts you have made to ensure that the Nigerian Airforce is making progress in its operations. You are fighting because Boko Haram is unjustly killing people and this is why we have to stop them.
