Political calculations in Taraba State may be altered ahead of 2019 general elections as stakeholders woo Senator Anthony Manzo to return to the upper legislative chambers.
Incumbent senator, Shuaibu Lau, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is set to re-contest for the plum position but informed sources, who confided in our correspondent, said stakeholders in Taraba North are rooting for Manzo to return to the Senate.
Manzo was the chief of staff to the 6th and 7th president of the Senate, David Mark, between 2011 and 2015. Before then, he was senator representing Taraba North in the Senate between 2007 and 2011, the period he attracted community development projects and influenced employment opportunities for his constituents.
Manzo was former Nigerian Ambassador to the state of Israel and former commissioner for Health in Taraba State.
A medical doctor by training, Manzo believes in the sanctity of the rule of law and respect for separation of power among the three arms of government.
