A Lagos based business tycoon, Emmanuel Essien says he is the one with the requisite capacity to govern Cross River State under the platform
of the governing All Progressives Congress APC, if given the mandate
to lead the people of the state.
Essien made the remark while declaring his intention before mammoth crowd of party faithful to vie for office of the governors of the
state in 2019.
In his declaration speech, Emmanuel Robson Essien (MANI) who doubles
as Chief Executive Officer CEO/founder Mani Robson Foundation said his desire to serve the people of the state is borne out of his desire to salvage the state from its present state of despair and restore the values and tourism potentials of the state which has been undermined
by the present administration.
“I am officially contesting for the office of the governorship of Cross River to change the landscape of development positively and give
the Cross River State brand and a rebirth.
“I am here to give Cross River State a rebirth by bringing back the beautiful years of her glory when it was reputed as the ultimate tourist destination in Nigeria and restore its brand value as the people’s paradise”
Also speaking at the ceremony, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu who was represented at the ceremony by former commissioner representing Cross River at the federal character commission/one time Head of Service HOS in Cross River, Chief Wilfred
Inah stated that the party will not follow the rotation formula for governorship position in Cross River, but will source for the best candidate to serve the state in 2019.
He said that the policy of direct primaries is aimed at ensuring that
the best candidate emerges stressing that that initiative is aimed at eliminating cheating and corruption of all sort in the political process.
In his words Ahmed said, “Our target should be to take over the government of the state and the area of choice should not be narrowed.
Let nobody say that the candidate should come from a particular district.
“The current formula in the state is that produced by the PDP and we
are in the APC and should start our own rotation. We are not completing a roster in Cross River State by sourcing for the best candidate.
“I commend the National Working Committee for saying that candidates
must emerge through direct voting and this way, it will be difficult for a candidate to go round all the wards and bribe people. What they have done is another way of fighting corruption in our electoral process”.
The APC national leader maintained that the state needs a credible
individual who knows the feeling of the people adding that it is not enough for a governor to wake up and announce a fantastic project which the commissioners know nothing about stressing that Emmanuel Robson is one of the individuals with the potential to take the state to enviable height.
