Police Rescue Kidnap Victim In Delta, Arrest Suspect

The police anti-kidnapping team attached to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, last week, rescued one Francis Okpoudhu who was kidnapped by gunmen in Oleh, Isoko South local government of the state.

It was gathered that the victim, since last week Monday, had been in the den of his abductors where he was repeatedly forced to drink dirty water and eat rotten food.

The commissioner of police in the state, Mustafa Muhammad, who confirmed the rescue said the victim was rescued mission was initiated after their team got an intelligence tip on the whereabouts of the kidnappers. He also disclosed that the team arrested one of the suspects who was guarding the

victim and the suspect gave useful statements to the police. The police boss disclosed that the police recovered the victim’s vehicle which was used for the operation by the kidnappers and the sum of N120, 000, part of the ransom collected from the family of the victim.

Meanwhile, the police commission said that the command has also instituted an investigating team to look into the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of two brothers by their elder brother in Asaba recently. He said that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded adding that the suspect was currently being examined at the psychiatric hospital, Uselu, in Edo State for brain disorder.
