President Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod is optimistic that Nigeria would pick one of the four available tickets for the World U-21 Female Championship from the African U-20 Girls Championship billed for Kenya.

He expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the Murtala Square, Kaduna on Wednesday, where 22 girla were camped before 12 of them were picked tk represent Nigeria in Kenya.

“I am confident they will get the ticket for U-21 world championship, my desire is for Nigeria to be among four tops so that they can pick a ticket,” he said.

NVBF President said that although their ambition is not to go there and pick the trophy, they are hopeful they would do well.

He explained that the present NVBF board is undertaking developmental programme, that will see players graduate from junior to senior team.

“80% 0f the girls that participated for the U-17 competition in Cotonou are in this team.

“We are giving them opportunity to go for this championship because they could not go for Africa Youth Games in Algiers,” he explained.

Nimrod explained that next year there will be All Africa Games qualifiers and the same set of players would be there for Nigeria.

He said though they cannot throw away the old players, they we will fuse the U-20 girls into the senior team. “There must be a synergy to achieve results” he stressed.
