2019: Group, Politicians Sue For Peace In Bwari

A group, Great Achievers Award and some politicians have enjoined youths in Bwari area council to embrace peace and shun violence as the 2019 general elections approach.

Speaking during ‘I Stand for Peace Road Walk’, held at the weekend in Bwari, the founder of the group, Comrade John Anyebe, noted that Nigerian youths have been misled into political violence and criminalities, instead of being used as agents of positive change.   

Anyebe, who is the convener of peace walk show, explained that the event was meant to sensitise youths on the dangers of violence during and after elections, just as he urged them to be ambassadors and an advocates of peace.

According to him, “We started this peace campaign from Bwari area council, because of what happened here last December and we intend to use this place as a pilot scheme to reach other area councils. We are calling on our royal chiefs to take the lead by standing with us in this campaign for peace.”

Earlier, the chairman of Bwari area council, Hon Musa Dikko, had enumerated the efforts of the council towards ensuring peace and stability in Bwari and in Nigeria.

Represented by the vice chairman of the area council, Ahmed Nagimba, the chairman disclosed that he had scheduled monthly meetings between the two royal fathers in Bwari and various security agencies, where they discuss modalities for peace and security. 

Also speaking, the Sarkin Bwari, HRH Alhaji Awwal Musa Ijakoro, noted that without peace there cannot be progress, just as he appealed to the youths in the area to keep away from any form of violence.

Ijakoro also called on the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello to do more by empowering the youths with jobs and businesses, to keep them away from political violence, criminality and drug abuse.
