Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has approved the appointment of Dr. Lazarus Gaza, as the new director in charge of human resources development of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Gaza, who hails from Pyakasa village in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), was until his appointment, the director, administration and finance in Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS), from 2016 to 2018.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A. Hons) in history and political science in 1985, from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and obtained a doctorate degree in geography from the same university in 2008.
His career progression cuts across various disciplines of human management. He was managing director, Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, Federal Ministry of Water Resources (2015 to 2016) and director, FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (2008 to 2014).
Gaza was also the head of department of administration, Area Council Service Commission (2004 to 2006) and council secretary, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), from 2003 to 2004.
Other positions held include, head of administration, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), from 1999 to 2002, programme monitoring adviser, FCT United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP), from 1996 to 1998 and head of establishment, Area Council Service Commission (1992 to 1993), among others.
Gaza, who has since resumed office, took over from Hajia Amina Abubakar, who retired from active service after 35 years meritorious service.
