Rivers Govt Believes In Nigeria’s Unity – Wike

Rivers State governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has declared that his administration believes in the unity, progress and development of Nigeria.

Wike made the declaration yesterday in Port Harcourt, while declaring open the national technical committee meeting of the Nation Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC).

The governor said: “We in Rivers State are honoured to host this wonderful event, bringing the whole nation, our dear nation, Nigeria together. As a government we believe so much in the unity of our dear nation and the development and progress of Nigeria.”

Wike, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, said the present administration in the state had put in effort in the last three years in the development of infrastructure, roads, bridges, education and health.

The governor said, “All Governor Wike’s efforts in the last three years is geared towards infrastructural development, roads, bridges, education, health, culture, tourism, towards our aim of making Port Harcourt centre of culture and tourism.

“We are very particular about security and I assure you that this government has supported all security agencies maximally to ensure our society is crime-free.”

In his address, director general of NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe, said the council would take this year’s edition of the National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST), which will be hosted by Rivers State, to another level.

Runsewe said: “We are taking this year’s NAFEST to the next level. Port Harcourt should be ready for us. During the festival in October, we will give free medicals.

“We will give skills acquisition. We will give waste to wealth acquisition. We will launch beans flavour, yam flavour and Ijebu garri.”
