Crisis Hits ADC Over Imposition Of Candidates

Published

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s political party, the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) ,Oyo State chapter has been entangled in crisis over alleged imposition of candidates by its leaders.
It was gathered that the former governor of Oyo state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, and a former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Micheal Koleosho, have been accused of trying to impose their own will and loyalists on other members of the newly inaugurated ADC in the state. A group within the party, Frontline Solidarity Movement (FSM), made the allegation in Ibadan, said the actions of the two leaders were capable of destabilising the party.

The party had announced the indefinite postponement of its state congress scheduled to hold on Tuesday, August 28, due to unresolved issues from the ward and local government congress held at the weekend. It would be recalled that the two elder statesmen recently joined the party and were made members of the steering committee to usher in state executives.
The group’s chairman, Alhaju Karimu Iyiola in a statement said “Senator Ladoja who left the PDP not too long ago because he was not allowed to have his way, has concluded plans to impose his stalwarts as the state executives of the Africa Democratic Congress”. mThe group alleged further that Senator Ladoja working in tandem with Chief Koleosho were trying to impose their will on the people, particularly against the members of the Unity Forum.

Iyiola further stressed “a situation where a few people will sit down in the corner of a room in the name of elders, to impose their will on majority will not be tolerated in the party”.
He said his group will vehemently resist all attempts to impose party executives The FSM chairman called on the national chairman of the party, Mr Okey Nwosu and other leaders of the party not to allow the culture of impunity, imposition and godfatherism to hold sway in ADC. The group also commended some of the leaders of the party who strongly opposed the attempt of Senator Ladoja and Chief Michael Koleosho, by ensuring that the proposed state congress where they allegedly intended to foist their undemocratic decision on the party, was postponed.
