Former Minister of State for Health and a global health expert, Dr. Ali Pate and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the European Organisation for Sustainable Development, Mr. Arshad Rab will be the keynote speakers at the Financial Nigeria Magazine colloquium on Nigeria’s sustainable development agenda scheduled to hold in the country.
Speaking to journalists on the 10th anniversary of the publication, the founder and the Managing Editor of Financial Nigeria Magazine, Mr. Jide Akintunde who said the Colloquium will hold in the Federal Capital Territory. He explained that the idea is to bring to the front burner and engage policy maker through its publications until the country achieves millennium development goal set by the United Nation. Recalled some months ago, an American innovator-turned-philanthropic, Bill Gates when he visited the country, sparked the debate on the need to improve human and capital development amid growing evident but was stifled by the government.
Jide said, ” We have lived with the problems Bill Gates ascertain, and we felt the need to resuscitate the issues raised, we now want to re-ignite the debate in a way that is positive for development in Nigeria, we will engage them in a constructive manner because we are answerable to the public. “It has been 10 years of sacrifice and fulfilment and over the years, we have tried to maintain a very narrow and sharp focus on producing magazine that will stand in as the financial publication of the people and also to ensuring we push, through our publication the development put down by United Nation.” Also speaking the Executive Editor of Financial Nigeria, Mr. Martins Hile said, “This colloquium is an opportunity to serve the wider Nigerian public with the quality of debates and cutting-edge ideas that financial Nigeria provides its readers on a monthly basis, the anniversary lecture will offer admission for free upon prior registration.’’
