Speaker Dogara Absent As APC NEC Commences

Published

on

Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara is conspicuously missing from the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), being the highest ranking member of the party in the legislature with the defection of Senate President, Bukola Saraki to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The national Chairman, comrade Adams Oshiomhole however read an apology from him and that of his deputy, Yusuf Lasun at the commencement.

This is as the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu made a surprise appearance even though he is constitutionally not a statutory member of this decision-making organ of the party. He however did not attend the meeting but was at the secretariat.

LEADERSHIP had earlier reported that governors elected on the APC platform and Asiwaju  Bola Tinubu were not on the same page as to the method to use in electing its leaders at the party’s primaries.

The meeting commenced at 11: 20AM after the President Muhammdu Buhari arrived.

NEC is currently in its closed door session.
