A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Mr. Benneth Chukwuemeka Ezeji has said that there is the need for young people in the state to change their general apathy to politics.
He said that the continuous lack of interest of the youths in occupying political offices was the reason why undesirable people are in positions of power and making flawed policies for the rest of the society.
While declaring his gubernatorial ambition in his Onicha Ward 2, Ezinihite Mbaise, he said that he is ready to change the political narratives in the state with the full support of the youths.
Ezeji, who was optimistic that a youth like himself can change the socio- economic and political face of the state said the people of Imo should desist from putting their hopes on the big names because it has failed them.
He said, “The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events. He doesn’t know the cost of life; the price of the beans, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions.
“ The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics. The imbecile doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politicians”.
Ezeji said the apathy of young people in Nigeria, especially Imo State, need to change.
