The newly elected national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Alhaji Falalu Bello, said the new National Executive Council (NEC) under his leadership will not only lead the party of greater heights in the years ahead but will also redeem the Nigerian masses from their present quagmire.
“Our task therefore is not only to lead the party to greater heights in the years ahead, but to lead the party to redeem the masses of Nigeria, north and south, from the shackles of poverty, ignorance and disease that they all suffers from.”
The newly elected chairman, who was the former managing director and chief executive officer of Unity Bank PLC, said the party, formed over 50 years ago, whose aim among others is to eradicate poverty and remove exploitation, is yet to attain its dreams.
“Nigeria needs to be delivered from the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which misruled the nation for 16 years and the All Progressives Congress (APC) which has not fared better in the last three years.
“Our task therefore, as the new leaders of PRP, is to show to the talaka that his deliverance is neither in PDP nor APC,” he stated.
Meanwhile, on his part, the immediate past national chairman of the party, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, tasked members to rejuvenate and reposition the party for the task ahead in 2019 polls.
The elder statesman who was the former governor of Kaduna State, urged participants at the conference to decide on the constitution of a new board of trustees for the party. He had on Friday, announced his exit as the national chairman of PRP over his failing health and advanced age.
He explained that the conference shall determine and confirm dates and guidelines for the conduct of the party’s primaries for the election of candidates that would contest elections in 2019.
“I am greatly delighted to formally convene this gathering of arguably some of the most patriotic and forward looking assemblage of Nigerian citizens who, without doubt, can be said to be a gathering of some of the most patriotic citizen of this country,’’ he said.
