Slain Prisons Boss Buried Amidst Tears



The Assistant Controller-General of Prisons, Nanvyat Wuyep Gwali (rtd), who was murdered by yet to be identified gunmen in his farmstead along Keffi – Nasarawa road in Nasarawa State, was laid to rest during the weekend, in his hometown, Simchor in Kanamycin LGA of Plateau State.

A statement by the spokesman of the Nigeria Prisons Service  (NPS) Francis Enobore said the corpse of Gwali, which arrived his home town at about 11: 45hrs, was greeted by a wailing crowd amidst curses and pleas that the perpetrators of the dastardly act be unmasked and brought to book.

The Controller General of Prisons, Ahmed Ja’afura, in a condolence message to the deceased family, described late Gwali as one who epitomised a gentleman officer, astute and courageous with a remarkable sense of commitment to the service of his father land throughout his career.

Ja’farau, who regretted that evildoers cut his life short, said all would miss the deceased who has impacted on the nation.

The Prisons Boss, Ja’afaru, urged the family members to take solace in the fact that the late officer led a life worthy of emulation.

He prayed for the repose of the departed soul and that those behind the wickedness be unveiled and brought to justice.

Late Nanvyat Wuyep Gwali, was born on April 5, 1956. He enlisted into the Nigerian Prisons Service in November 1989 on transfer of service as a Superintendent of Prisons. He rose to the enviable rank of Assistant Controller-General of Prisons before his retirement in April 2016.

The statement said that on retirement, he ventured into farming and was murdered in his farm on August 10, 2018.
