President Muhammadu Buhari is set to declare the 2018 All Civil Society Economic Conference open in Abuja.
The one day conference with the theme: “The Gains of Economic Development: Impact, Strategy and Its Sustainability”, coming up in three weeks time is aimed at creating room for synergy among the various civil society groups, media and the Central Bank of Nigeria on her several monetary policies aimed at addressing the myriad of economic challenges facing the country.
Speaking with newsmen at the weekend, the national president, Coalition if Civil Society Organisations, Comrade Etuk Williams Bassey, said the conference will help a great deal in dispelling falsehoods being bandied around by detractors and anti-government entities, saying this will signal an end to baseless criticisms, thus setting the template for partnership, which will result in transparency, probity and accountability across all strata.
Etuk added that the conference will help generate fresh narratives that will help shape the perceptions of Nigerians on the impact and efficacy of the new economic strategy and several other monetary policies in addressing the current economic challenges.
“ We have lined up international figures like the Governor of Central Bank, Dr. Godwin Emefele, the CEO, Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, Professor of International Financial System, Harvard University, USA, Prof. Carwei Reinhart, former Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo, Prof. Akpan Ekpo.
