The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has registered no fewer than 242,545 in the recent extended continued voters registration exercise which ended last week August 31, Sokoto State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sadiq Musa disclosed on Monday.

He further divulged that 25,105 voters also applied for re-issuance of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) while 6,475 applied for intra and interstate transfer in the state.

Musa who noted that the exercise so far till its end has been a huge success in the state added that INEC enjoyed maximum cooperation from all stakeholders.

The REC who said they will begin to display voters list at INEC in every local government starting from 4th of September 2018 further appeal to voters to promptly report any anomalies discovered to facilitate prompt correction.

He also admonished those that registered from April 2017 and Dec. 2017 to come forth for their PVC hence they are ready for collection at INEC in their respective local government offices.

While stressing that collection of PVCs continues until a week to the general elections of 2019, Musa added that INEC is working towards production of PVCs for those that registered between January to August 2018.
