One person have been confirmed dead and thirteen persons arrested in a clash between students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida and commercial vehicle drivers in the town at the weekend.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the fight ensued between three students of the polytechnic and a commercial vehicle driver who conveyed the students from Minna and dropped them at the park instead of the polytechnic road junction as agreed from Minna.
Consequently, argument started, then physical assault making one of the students to have bruises and a driver injured in the process.
It was however gathered that, apparently peeved by the development the students went back and mobilised more of their colleagues from the campus against the drivers, burning seven motorcycles and causing free for all fight.
An eye witness account revealed that some youth within the town who learnt about the purported burning of motor cycles by the students mobilised and attacked students staying in off campus opposite the school leading to the death of a student.
Confirming this to LEADERSHIP, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ,Niger State Command, Abubakar Inna said that thirteen persons have been arrested while one of the students died.
