Leadership Nigeria News Today

The Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN) has announced plan to hold its first National Convention, tomorrow,  to elect new executives into the party.

The party in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Bar. Yelwa Abubakar said the convention is taking place following the just concluded nation-wide consultative tour and ward/local government/states congresses aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots.

“As a party that is structured on taking the dividends of democracy to the people, we use this medium to encourage the general public to join the movement in rescuing our dear nation from the hands of self-serving politicians,” the statement reads in part.

Abubakar described the party as an all-inclusive party, with 40 per cent affirmative action for women, 35 per cent for the youth, and 10 per cent for people living with disability.

He said, the party, being a grassroots party understands the concerns and needs of common Nigerians, and had made it a central mandate to proffer solutions to the many difficulties facing the nation.

The statement reads further, “Security challenges, failing economy, poor infrastructure and other ills would be by-gone issues when the party takes over leadership in 2019.”
