Ahead of the September 6 deadline for submission of nomination forms, aspirants under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stormed the party’s national secretariat to submit their forms. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom after submitting his nomination forms declared that he was not thinking of automatic ticket even though he enjoys “a right of first refusal” as incumbent governor and leader of the party in the state. The governor’s form which was submitted by his senior special assistant on special duties, Abraham Kwanghngu, said he is not afraid to contest against other aspirants. He,however, explained that nobody can play god over the return bid of the governor in 2019. Dismissing claims that the governor has not done any thing in the state, the special assistant said only politicians living outside Benue State are raising issues about the salary payment and none performance by the administration. Similarly, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, who also returned his presidential forms yesterday promised to provide jobs and address the security challenges in the country. He also knocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) led for failing to meet the expectation of Nigerians. Former minister of special duties and inter governmental affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, also submitted his presidential forms.
The former minister who submitted his form at the party secretariat through the spokesman of his campaign organisation, Sola Atere, ruled out prospects of Turaki stepping down from the race, stressing that he isn’t fronting for any aspirant.
