European Investment Bank (EIB) and World Bank Group, has lauded the National Population Commission (NPC), for vital statistics system record in the country.
The project manager, World Bank group Mr. Christopher Tullis, made the commendation when he led his team members on a courtesy call to the commission yesterday in Abuja.
Tullis said,“ NPopC has an important role to play in the processes, because the birth registration is the foundation of society ID in Nigeria, NPopC has the store network of enrollment agencies that work with the health system and ensure that birth and death data are registered in Nigeria,” he said.
In his remarks, the delegation from European Investment Bank (EIB), Jaime Baragan, expressing his appreciation for the courtesy visit and gave his assurance that the EIB will give its support to the commission for effective collection of data registration across the country.
On his parts, the federal commissioner representing Oyo State in the commission, Eyitayo Oyetunji, thanked his guests for the visit and solicited the support of EIB to enhance greater connectivity to boost the commission as well to bolster data storage of the commission nationwide.
On the request for support for EID and World Bank group Mr Oyetunji said, “we need investment to achieve this, we need investment to transform the IT and improve on it, we also need more registration centers to enable us capture all civil registration and vital statistics system and investment for sensitisation of the public.
