Super Eagles Can’t Win Without Mikel, Moses — Seychellois

A cross section of the fans of the national team of Seychelles believe their team will triumph against the Super Eagles of Nigeria when both teams clash on Saturday in a 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers. The fans, who admitted the superiority of the Nigerian team, feel they can cause an upset as Nigeria are without the influential duo of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.
The duo were missing when Nigeria played their first game of the qualifiers which they lost 0-2 at home to South Africa and the fans of Seychelles are hoping their team will be able to match same feat recorded by the Bafana Bafana. Aside Mikel and Victor Moses, Super Eagles will be without Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi, Udinese, centre-back, William Troost-Ekong, and Torino right-back Ola Aina for the match.

Tyronne Ebuehi and Shehu Abdullahi will also play no part in the clash in the Island nation due to injury. Nigeria are desperate to bounce back to winning ways following a 2-0 defeat at home to Bafana Bafana last year. The Seychelles lost their Group E opener 5-1 to Libya in Cairo. But, despite their opponent’s rather low pedigree, Head Coach, Gernot Rohr has warned his troops not to underestimate their counterparts. “For us to win, we must not look down on Seychelles because everybody thinks they are no team, but if we don’t raise our game we will be shocked.” Rohr expects Kenneth Omeruo to fill the void left in defence with distinction as Nigeria eye a positive result in the Seychelles. “It depends on how we handle the absence of the injured defenders,” Rohr added. “But I think Omeruo should lead in their absence. He has been with the team for a long time and I hope he should be able to cover up for the other injured players who will not be part of the game.”
