Gombe: Gafakan Akko Finally Dumps PDP

Despite last minute pressure by Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state, to prevent the presidential campaign coordinator of Sen. Ahmed Makarfi and a political heavyweight in Gombe, Auwal Abdullahi from moving to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), the young politician on Friday officially decamped from the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP).

The defection at his Kumo west ward in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe state ended months of speculations about the status of his political allegiance.

LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that since the news of the planned defection was carried by the media on Wednesday, there was intense pressure from Governor Dankwambo to persuade him to reverse his decision.

The young politician who defected with hundreds of his supporters were received by a heavy crowd of APC supporters led by the APC chairman of Gombe Central, Adamu Pata, APC chairman Akko LGA, Wazir Jabbo and some stakeholders of the party.

The zonal leader and others who spoke, said the coming of Gafakan Akko who is the proprietor of one of the leading Islamic school in the state capital Aqsat Schools, marks the dead of PDP in Akko LGA and Gombe central.

He said, “We are happy to receive such a political general in APC, we are happy to capture this big fish, along with thousands of his supporters”

“Gafaka is an asset and he will no doubt add value to our party.”

Speaking, Abdullahi pointed out that he was happy to join APC with his supporters, stressing that he feel fulfilled.

He said he joined the opposition party in the state because he had a mission to render service on its platform.

“Today, I and others are not just joining the APC for joining sake, we are joining because we are on a mission of saving the state from bad leadership.”
