Kudan LGA Emerges Overall Best At KADFEST 2018

 After four days of participation in various competitive and non competitive events at the Kaduna State Festival of Arts and Culture (KADFEST) which ended yesterday, Kudan local government area emerged the overall best. Kaura, Chikun and Zangon Kataf local governments came second, third and fourth respectively while the rest of the local government areas won one prize or the other in various categories of the competition. In the dance drama, Chikun local government came firsst, while Kudan, Jaba and Sabon Gari local government areas came second, third and fourth respectively. In the Ayo board game, Zangon Kataf emerged first while Kudan, Jema’a and Kaduna North came second, third and fourth respectively and in the indigenous fabric in contemporary competition, Kaura came first while Jema’a, Makarfi and Zaria local governments took the second, third and fourth positions respectively.

In the traditional wrestling, Kudan came first while Lere, Giwa and Ikara Local government areas came second, third and fourth respectively, and for the traditional cousin competition, Kaura emerge winner while Kauri, Chikun and Sanga emerged second, third and fourth respectively. In the Children Essay writing competition, Ruqqayat Abdullahi, 16 years, from Soba local government, emerged winner, while Yakubu Divine (16) from Sanga came second; Favour Rabo Magaji, 14, Chikun and Amarachi Joan Igwe, 14, Zango Kataf came third and fourth respectively. In the Children’s Craft competition, Kudan local government emerged first while Zaria, Kaduna South and Zango Kataf local governments came second, third and fourth respectively. In the Children’s tales by moonlight competition, Birnin Gwari local government emerged first while Giwa, Kaura and Jaba local government areas came second, third and fourth respectively. In the march past and carnival procession, Lere and Jema’a local governments came first and second respectively while Kajuru and Igabi local governments emerged first and second respectively in beat performance. In his remarks to declare the festival closed, Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, represented by the commissioner, Ministry of Youths, Sports and Culture, Daniel Amuze Danauta, commended the leadership of the 23 local governments that participated in the festival for their discipline and display of unique cultural heritage. He urged the winners to be magnanimous in victory and those who were not that lucky to put in more efforts in future competitions. All the 23 local government areas in the state participated in the festival.
