Labour Unions Give 7-day Strike Notice In Osun

The joint labour unions in Osun, comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have issued a 7-day strike action notice to the Osun State government over non – payment of salary areas, pensions and gratuity. A statement signed yesterday in Osogbo by the union leaders, said the memorandum of understanding on December 30, 2017 between the state government and the Leadership of the union has failed to yield its expected results. The statement was jointly signed by Bayo Adejumo, chairman, JPSNC; Jacob Adekomi, chairman, NLC; Adebowale Ademola, chairman TUC; R.A Oyegbami, secretary JNC; Rufus Adeyemi, secretary NLC and Akin Olatunbosun, secretary, TUC. ’’After critical review of the unbending posture of the government, despite the three-day notice strike warning to accede to the demands of workers, the situation fails provide the expected answer to the amelioration of the workers.
“We are constrained to use this medium to give the government a 7 -day notice of strike action which we will begin on September 10,’’ part of the statement read.
