*** Tension Mounts In Burutu, Bomadi
An indigene of Tuomo Community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State Ebi Tamaraki on Tuesday handed over four AK 47 rifles discovered on top of his roof to the Joint Military Taskforce (JTF) in the area.
Family members who did not want their names in the print told our correspondent that the whistle blower had visited wife in another Quarter of the community in the early hours, when his little children told him about the shady deal.
It was gathered that four unidentified men had visited the house of the whistle blower and allegedly dumped a sack bag containing AK 47s on the ceiling; a situation the whistle blower saw and they reported to their father on his arrival to the house.
Accordingly, curious to know who they are, and the content of the sack bag, he was said to have climbed up to the ceiling where he discovered the sack bag, and was shocked to see four AK 47 rifles in it.
He was said to have immediately called a friend, and told him about it who then suggested that the arms should be taken to the JTF checkpoint at Tuomo.
It was further gathered that the culprits who are said to be notable culprits in the community got wind of the sack bag’s discovery and as well as moved to the JTF checkpoint, were said to have rushed down to the roof only to discover that their arms were no more there.
Furious at what had happened, they were said to have held a boy within the community, and allegedly gave him the beating of his life, and alleging that he was the only one who saw them when they were hiding the arms on the ceiling.
It was as a result of this their reaction that they were identified but they immediately fled the community and in the process, some of the youths in the community alleged to have been cult members were arrested, and taken to Bomadi Command of the JTF.
But officials of the JTF who spoke to LEADERSHIP on condition of anonymity said the suspects were being detained for further investigation.
However, the JTF Command has begun stop and search operation on vehicles as at the time of filling this report. Speaking to journalists in Asaba, the Police Commissioner in the State Mustapha Muhammed confirmed that the arrested suspects were being detained for further investigation, adding that the stop and search was to uncover many of the hidden arms within the community, and others.
