The All Progressives Congress (APC), have been urged to field candidates with electoral value if they party is to make a good outing in the 2019 general elections.

A Chieftain of the party and an aspirant for the House of Representatives in Edo, Hon Dennis Idahosa, spoke  shortly after picking his nomination and interest form at the party’s secretariat in Benin Edo State.

Idahosa, noted that the 2019 poll would be different in the sense that personality, rather than party, would play a major deciding factor on electoral victory.

The former Commissioner in Edo, said to secure victory for the APC, leadership of the party must ensure that candidate that win elections are fielded.

He said though the leadership of the party have a say on the choice of their candidates, he however advised that the people to must be allow to be part of the process.

According to him, “It is not just about picking the ticket; it is winning the elections proper. The right candidate is the one who is at home with the people.

“I am not unaware that the party have a role to play, but principally, a sellable candidate will make it easier for the party in securing electoral victory.

“The 2019 poll is going to be one full of surprises, our party needs to be prepared, more importantly, more united if we are to have a successful outing.”

Idahosa explained that APC would emerge victorious for the Ovia Federal Constituency seat following what he termed as the “Abysmal” failure of the present occupant of the seat.

“The present occupant of the seat who is from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have done nothing but to distant herself from the reality on ground in the Federal Constituency.

“Without being a lawmaker or holding any political position, I have been able contribute meaningfully to the development of the people.

“My aim is to make much difference in the lives of the people across the 23 wards that make up the Ovia federal constituency. Victory is already ours because we are more united than we were in the 2015 elections,” he stated.
