Business mogul and chairman of Forte Oil PLC, Mr Femi Otedola, has been offered the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Lagos State gubernatorial election in 2019.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Otedola, who is currently on vacation, confirmed the offer yesterday.
Many Nigerians reacted to the offer of the gubernatorial ticket to Otedola by the PDP but the reaction of the Publisher of Ovation magazine, Mr Dele Momodu, lend credence to the new twist in the Lagos politics.
“Otedola ‘personally confirmed,” Momodu tweeted, referring to the PDP offer to the business mogul.
When asked whether he will accept the PDP ticket, Otedola simply said he was on vacation.
It was gathered that pressure has continued to mount on the oil magnate to contest the 2019 governorship election in Lagos State on the platform of the PDP, following unconfirmed reports of disagreement between the incumbent governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode and the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his second term bid.
Both Ambode and Otedola are from the same Epe and in March 2018, Otedola’s father, Michael Otedola who is a former governor of Lagos State praised Ambode for his good works in the state.
Otedola Senior openly said in March that governor Ambode has ‘done overwhelmingly well’ and deserves a second term.
This is coming following unconfirmed reports of planned impeachment of the Lagos State governor but Ambode kinsmen have insisted he must remain governor for another term.
