All Set For Inne Festival Of Issele Uku

All is now set for the annual Inne festival of Issele uku scheduled to take place at the palace of the king, His Royal Majesty, Obi Agbogidi Nduka.

Briefing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, the monarch assured that this year’s annual Inne festival of Issele Uku will be the best of its kind in the history of the town.

LEADERSHIP reports that the annual Inne festival is a remarkable festival of the town worthy of being celebrated and experienced and referred as the most revered festival in the ancient town celebrated every ninth month of the year to showcase the rich culture of Issele Uku.

The monarch stated that the glory of Issele Uku kingdom lies in its unfettered adherence to its rich culture and traditions and one of the imperative cultures of his people.

The Obi promised, among other things, to use this year’s festival as a platform to bring back the glory and viability of other traditional activities of the in the town that had hitherto become moribund, adding that one of his cardinal objectives is to engage the youths, not only in imbibing the cultural traits and norms of Issele-Uku community, but getting involved in their propagations.

The monarch promised to strictly observe the five-day of going into seclusion (Iba Nzu) which signifies a period of spiritual cleansing and purification of the town from all evil, adding that during this period the people of the town are also expected to refrain from noisemaking and all forms of social vices.

The Obi commended the Delta State governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his developmental strides in Issele-Uku in particular and Aniocha North local government area in general.

He said he was lucky to have ascended the throne of Oligbo Kingdom at a time when such a passionate leader like governor Okowa is on the saddle of leadership in Delta state.
