Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries, youths under the auspices, Atiku Youth Coalition have declared their support for former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, saying he is the best man to fly the party’s presidential flag and defeat incumbent President Buhari in the 2019 presidential elections.
The group said what Nigeria need is a leader like Atiku Abubkar to fix the problems facing the country under the current administration, as well as restore Nigeria to its past glory.
Speaking in Abuja, Leader of Atiku Youth Coalition, Bashir Abdulrahman said the objective of the gathering was to brainstorm on how best to mobilise support for Atiku and make delegates from across board to see reasons why Atiku should be the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Abdulrahman said; “Atiku is an experienced politician having been a vice-president in the past and as a successful businessman, he understands the nuance of the economic sector and this is what the country needs right now.
“Despite all efforts to tarnished his good image, Atiku remain unindicted as all the allegations against him have been proven to be baseless. As a founding member of our great party, PDP, he deserves to lead us and the entire nation to the promise land,” he added.
Also speaking, FCT Coordinator of AYC, Pastor Jerry Ekpa while thanking the BOT Representatives and council members, said he is convinced that Atiku will be the presidential flagbearer of the party.
Ekpa said he believe strongly that Atiku will confront President Buhari in the 2019 presidential election and win.
Convener of Centre For Atiku Movement, Mazi Dickson Nnamdi in his remarks said Nigerians are wiser now and needs a unifier, and someone who can address the yearnings of the masses.
“We want Buhari to ensure a free and fair elections in 2019 and not to contest for presidency,” Mazi said.
