The Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi will tomorrow, deliver the keynote address at the 2nd annual seminar of the Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association (ATACA), organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
This is even as the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika will deliver a paper on the topic, “The National Carrier and the Opportunities’’.
Part of the statement from the association read that “the seminar is part of the efforts of Transport and Aviation reporters in Abuja to create avenue for stakeholders to discuss strategies towards repositioning the country’s transportation industry as a catalyst for sustainable economic development.
“Infrastructure challenge has been a major setback in the quest to develop an enduring transport industry in Nigeria especially land and air transport sectors as been canvassed by stakeholders at different fora.
“It is therefore in this regard, that a body of journalist covering the sector has deemed it necessary to engage the relevant stakeholders and industry players in both public and private sector to brainstorm on the way forward.”
The statement further noted that the Minister of Transportation will deliver a keynote address on the development in the maritime and land transport sectors at the event, while Sirika will speak on the state of Aviation infrastructure in Nigeria.
The event will also witness presentation from the Executive Secretaray, Nigerian Shippers Counci, the MD/CEO Nigerian Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria, the Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), the MD Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), the MD Nigeria Railways Corporation (NRC) and other industry presentations.
Also expected at the seminar is the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatude Fashola (SAN), who is to speak on the topic, “Toll Gate as a tool for financing road infrastructure in Nigeria.”
Also expected are the chief executives of all agencies and parastatals under the Ministry of Transportation; Airline executives, Road transport executives and transport unions.
ATACA is an umbrella body of the Transport and Aviation journalists, based in Abuja, with its membership drawn from mainstream media houses including print, electronic national and some online news platforms.
