Senator Alimekhena, PDP Aspirant Bicker Over Constituency Projects

Chief Whip of th Nigeria Senate, Senator Francis Alimekhena and his opponent in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abubakar Momoh, yesterday engaged in war of words over constituency projects.

Hon Momoh is the sole aspirant of the PDP for the Edo North senatorial seat while Senator Alimekhena has been offered automatic ticket of the APC.

Momoh in a chat with newsmen accused Alimekhena of abandoning Akoko-Edo and Owan local government areas in the distribution of constituency projects.

He noted that Alimekhena as a principal officer of the National Assembly should have done more the 100 projects being paraded.

Momoh, a former Member of the House Representatives, said he spent his personal resources to provide projects for his constituents when he was a lawmaker.

“Estako is half of the senatorial district. Go and ask people of Owan and Akoko-Edo what Alimekhena has done for them.

“There is nothing to show there by the APC Senator.

I go to see the people with my score cards. The boreholes I did are still functional.

“I do not put a mask of deception. It pains me that politicians are deceiving the people. I do not see politicians who can spend their money to execute projects like myself.”

Senator Alimekhena, on his part, said he has attracted 105 projects to the six local governments areas under his district.

Alimekhena who denied concentrating projects on only Estako axis said he earned the toga ‘Oracle of development and veteran of Edo North development’ because of what he attracted.

He said previoAus Senators  failed to earned the trust of the people because they do not connect to the people emotionally through their performance.
