A/Ibom State Assembly Approves New Commissioners



The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has unanimously ratified the appointments of Rt Hon Uno Etim Uno, Prince Ukpong Udo Akpabio, Hon Udo Ekpenyong and Otuekong Raphael Bassey as commissioners.
The House also confirmed the nomination of Pastor (Hon) Sunday Ekanem Ibuot for appointment as Honourable Special Adviser.
Governor Udom Emmanuel had written to the House in line with section 192 (2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria requesting clearance for appointment of the nominees.
All five nominees appeared on the floor of the House on Friday and answered questions from lawmakers in the committee of the whole.
Speaker, Onofiok Luke, in his address said that the House has no doubt that, “having met the provisions of section 192 (4) of the 1999 constitution as amended, the commissioner and special adviser designates will prove their mettle in their respective portfolios.”
“We believe that these gentlemen will bring to the table their expertise; and that they will be inspired to contribute their best to what has proven so far to be a fecund state executive, led by a five-star manager
“We believe that they will focus their energy and capacity on the full manifestation of the development agenda of the present administration.
“Our expectation is that they will introduce fresh energy into the team while committing themselves wholly to the actualisation of the policy objectives of the present government.”
The Speaker assured that the state assembly remains in full support of the success of Governor Emmanuel.
