Arewa Youths Petition Presidency Over Imposition Of Guber Candidate

Arewa Youths for Peace and Security (AYPS) have petitioned the presidency over alleged plots to impose a candidate on the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
The petitioners stressed the need for the party to exercise caution in the choice of the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
The petition, signed by the national president and secretary of the group, Suleiman Musa, Balarabe Musa and made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, was addressed to the chief of staff to the president, Alhaji Abba Kyari.
The youths, who specifically claimed that the party was planning to impose a candidate, claimed that one of the aspirants, Great Ogboru, was not fit to emerge as the APC’s flag-bearer because he is the anointed candidate of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), an organisation opposing the Buhari-led government.

The petition reads in party: “We are absolutely dumbfounded, deeply dismayed and utterly disenchanted to see the ruling APC not only welcoming Great Ogboru to the party, but also unarguably brewing tragedy for the North by nurturing prospects of helping him secure the candidature of the APC in the 2019 Delta State governorship election.
“He contested in such parties as AD, DPC and LP where he was sure to lose. It is our considered opinion that should Ogboru be allowed the governorship of Delta State, he will be properly empowered to carry out his grand design of sinister actions against the North.”
All attempts to reach Ogboru for comments on the matter proved abortive as calls and text messages sent to his mobile phone were not answered as at the time of filing this report.
